Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather: More pre-monsoon rains predicted

ISLAMABAD – More intermittent pre-monsoon rains and windstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night and Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper & central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over the upper parts.

Under these conditions, more intermittent pre-monsoon rains and windstorms are predicted in the twin cities, Potohar region, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday night and Monday. Isolated heavy rains are likely in Kashmir, Potohar region and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34°C and 36°C on Monday and between 35°C and 37°C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33°C and 35°C on Monday and between 34°C and 36°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very hot in plain areas during the last 24 hours. However, pre-monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and upper Punjab.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Lower Dir 38, Kakul 08, Peshawar City, Mardan, Balakot 02, Kalam, Cherat 01

Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta 20, Muzaffarabad (Airport 09, City 07), Kotli 09, Rawalakot 06

Jacobabad remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. The maximum temperature in Dadu and Sibbi was recorded at 46°C, and in Dalbandin, Khairpur, Mohenjo-Daro and Nokkundi at 45°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 63 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.
