Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; intermittent rains predicted

ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rains are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), weak monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen on July 22 evening/night. A trough of westerly wave lies over the upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thundershowers are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in Sindh, Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northeast/South Punjab, Potohar region and Northeast/South Balochistan on Sunday night. Hot and very humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

On Monday and Tuesday, more rain-wind/thundershowers are predicted in the twin cities and Kashmir, Northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Southeast/lower Sindh. Hot and very humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37-39°C on Monday and 36-38°C on Tuesday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in Sindh, Kashmir, Northeast/South Balochistan and Northeast Punjab.

Dalbandin, Nokkundi and Turbat remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Maximum temperature in Attock and Jacobabad was recorded at 44°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 55 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 39 per cent.
