More light to moderate rain is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening and night.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over the western and upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist in the upper parts during the next 12hours.
Under these conditions, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and Islamabad on Thursday evening and night. Snowfall is likely in hilly areas.
On Friday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most plains of the country. Fog is expected to persist over the plains of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh. Very cold weather is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and the northern parts of Balochistan.
Snowfall may cause road closures/slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
There are possibilities of landslides/avalanches in hilly areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04°C and 06°C on Friday and between 03°C and 05°C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05°C and 07°C on Friday and between 04°C and 06°C on Saturday.
