Partly cloudy weather with light rain is likely in the upper parts of Pakistan on Friday night and Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly wave prevails over the western/upper parts of Pakistan, which will likely move north-eastwards.
Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather is expected in the Northern Areas, Balochistan and southern Punjab on Friday night and Saturday. Very cold weather is expected in the Northern Areas. Light rain with snowfall over mountains is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan). Smog with fog in patches will likely persist over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 03°C and 05°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 02°C and 04°C on Monday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 06°C and 08°C on Saturday and Sunday and between 05°C and 07°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather persisted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Partly cloudy weather conditions prevailed in the Northern Areas and North Balochistan. Smog (while fog in patches during night/morning hours) persisted over a few plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Skardu and Leh remained the coldest places in Pakistan, where the mercury dropped 07°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Ziarat and Gupis was recorded at -04°C, and in Gilgit, Dir and Kalat at -02°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 50 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 32 per cent.
