Iran stated that the defence agreement recently signed by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan reflected a shift in regional countries’ approach towards the United States.
Speaking at weekly press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the pact showed that countries in the region were increasingly questioning the idea of relying on the United States for security.
“Countries in the region have realised that security is not a commodity that can be bought from false brokers,” Baqaei said, in an apparent reference to the United States, which maintains close ties with all three signatories.
