Security forces killed five terrorists, including a key commander, during an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan.
According to the media reports citing sources, the operation was conducted in the Sarkini and Chedgi areas under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3 and targeted militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan.
Among those killed was the group’s commander, Wazir, son of Jamal. Four bikes, machine guns, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants.
The slain terrorists were involved in robberies, extortion and kidnappings, as well as attacks against traders and civilians in the area. A sanitisation operation was continuing to search for any remaining militants in the vicinity.
The development came a day after security forces killed 15 terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij during IBOs in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the security forces for the successful operation, praising their professionalism and determination in combating terrorism. He said the forces had once again demonstrated their resolve to eliminate militants and restore lasting peace in Balochistan.
Naqvi said the nation remained united in the fight against terrorism and stood firmly behind the security forces.
Pakistan has faced an increase in militancy, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, since 2021, following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
