Lecture on Iqbal’s Philosophy held at Aiwan-e-Quaid

Human intelligence vis-à-vis artificial intelligence and conflict between the two is beautifully portrayed in Allama Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy as he has strongly advocated human values and made them a living throbbing subject of his poetry.
In the light of the poetry of the Great Poet of the East, it is now our national duty to ensure timely revival and speedy spread of his message at all levels, starting right from our childhood.
These views were expressed by eminent Iqbal scholar and a writer former Head of Urdu Department, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr Najeeba Arif during a lecture she delivered on ‘Fikr-e-Iqbal Ki Tafheem: A Forgotton National Priority’ at the Aiwan-e-Quaid, Fatima Jinnah Park.
The event was organized by the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) in connection with the week-long Iqbal Day celebrations.
Chairman, NPC, Mian Muhammad Javed presided over the lecture and attended by selected number of literati of the twin cities.
Muhammad Abdulah Yousuf, Senior Vice Chairman of the NPC was the chief guest while Director Media Anjum Khaleeq conducted the proceedings.
The guest speaker, Dr Najeeba maintained that the process of regular and continuous listening to any phrase, advice, idea or statement not only helped to remember, it also made it a part of one’s behaviour.
Therefore, we should make this practice a source for our generation to learn and revamp our lost values to make them good Pakistanis and good human beings.
“We can benefit us by often listening to what Iqbal said in order to regain our lost values,” she further said.
In his presidential address Mian Muhammad Javed called upon on the policy-makers to bring back Iqbal’s thought to educational syllabus and that too in our national language Urdu. Even in English medium schools his message should be spread at a larger scale.
No other country has ever prospered in by using a foreign language as a medium of education, he said.
The event also featured poetic tributes to the Poet of East by noted poets including Tariq Naeem, Wafa Chishti, Abida Tawi, Farkhanda Shameem, Maryam Amin, Dr. Mazhar Rizvi, Nasir Mangal, Tasleem Ikram and Anjum Khaleeq.
