Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police, GhulamNabiMemon, has inaugurated a new verification application introduced by the Special Branch. This app will allow citizens to submit and receive applications for services such as weapon licenses, airport entry, employment, character verification, and registrations for NGOs, trusts, foundations, and associations, all from the comfort of their homes.
The launch event was attended by Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs, and other officials from the Special Branch. During the meeting, DIG Special Branch provided a comprehensive briefing on the department’s various activities and performance, including a comparative review of intelligence reports from the previous and current years.
The briefing highlighted a notable decrease in street crime incidents in Karachi compared to last year. Effective intelligence operations have led to significant reductions in smuggling, drug trafficking, and the movement of prohibited items.
The crackdown on organized crime, supported by impartial reporting and robust accountability measures, has been instrumental in preventing such crimes. Additionally, the Special Branch’s efforts have led to the arrest of several suspects involved in illegal scrap dealing.
