The Inspector General of Sindh Police, GhulamNabiMemon, presided over a crucial meeting regarding security measures for Chinese residents in the province.
The meeting, held at the Central Police Office on Thursday, was attended by additional IG Karachi, DIGs, Special Branch officials, CTD, Headquarters, IT, and Zonal DIGs from Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, ShaheedBenazirabad, Sukkur, and Larkana via video link.
IG Sindh briefed the attendees on police strategies and regulations concerning the security of Chinese nationals, highlighting the use of body-worn cameras and CCTV surveillance for monitoring their safety. He reiterated that the Prime Minister’s office has issued clear directives regarding a zero-tolerance policy on Chinese residents’ security, mandating that they refrain from any movement without bulletproof vehicles within the province and its various districts.
Furthermore, IG Memon instructed the formation of a committee comprising DIGs, Special Branch, Sindh Police, and a Zonal DIG to ensure comprehensive security for Chinese nationals. He emphasized that local police and the Sindh Police would be responsible for the security of all Chinese nationals in the province, with the Special Branch providing assistance at all levels.
The IG underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of Chinese hosts during their travel on internal and external routes in South and East Karachi, and announced plans for comprehensive security measures to safeguard their movements.
