ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced a major facility for Pakistanis seeking to apply for e-Passport, starting today (7 September 2026).
The new facility will allow allowing citizens to obtain e-passport renewal and reprint services at NADRA centres closer to their homes across Pakistan.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passport and NADRA has signed an agreement in this regard.
However, the issuance of new e-passports and new machine-readable passports will continue to be handled by passport offices under the existing procedure.
Passport counters established at NADRA mega centres will continue to issue new e-passports and machine-readable passports under the previous procedure for the time being.
The existing passport counters at NADRA offices will subsequently be phased out, with their staff being recalled.
Authorities said the initiative aims to provide citizens with easier access to e-passport renewal services under one roof and help reduce crowds at passport offices.
Citizens will be able to visit their nearest NADRA centre from September 7 to avail themselves of e-passport renewal and reprint services.
Earlier, the government had also announced that passport delivery counters across the country would remain open every Saturday. The counters will operate from 8am to 4pm, allowing citizens to collect their ready passports on Saturdays.
The weekly Saturday passport delivery facility is scheduled to continue for two months.
