Gold price falls by Rs1,100 per tola in Pakistan

KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan declined on Saturday, with the price of one tola falling by Rs1,100 to Rs439,836, showing a downward trend in international bullion markets.

All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA) said that the domestic gold market witnessed a fresh decline after global gold prices eased.

The latest reduction has brought some relief to buyers, although gold prices remain near historic highs.

The association said the price of 10 grams of gold also decreased by Rs943, bringing the new rate to Rs377,088.

The decline in local gold prices followed a fall in the international market, where the price of the precious metal dropped by $11 per ounce to $4,174.

Gold prices in Pakistan are determined by fluctuations in the international bullion market and the exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. Any movement in global prices or currency values is usually reflected in the local market.

Bullion traders said the latest decline was primarily driven by weaker international prices. However, they noted that the precious metal continues to trade at elevated levels due to ongoing economic uncertainty and investor demand for safe-haven assets.

Gold remains one of the most preferred investment options in Pakistan, particularly during periods of inflation and financial instability. Changes in its price are closely monitored by investors, jewellers, and consumers planning to purchase jewellery or invest in bullion.

The market experts believe gold prices are likely to remain volatile in the coming weeks as investors continue to assess global economic indicators, inflation trends, and monetary policy signals from major central banks.

Despite the latest decrease, traders say domestic gold prices could fluctuate further depending on developments in international markets and movements in the local currency.
