DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates imposes a range of fines for violations related to visas, residency permits and identification documents, including penalties for overstaying permitted periods of stay and delays in updating official records.
Under the regulations, individuals who remain in the country after the expiry of their permitted stay, or after the cancellation or expiry of an entry visa, residence permit, exit permit or newborn registration, will be charged a fine of AED 50 per day.
Authorities have also set a AED 20 per day fine for failing to report changes to personal information or civil status within 30 days, with the total penalty capped at AED 1,000.
The same daily fine of AED 20, subject to a maximum of AED 1,000, applies to delays in renewing Emirates ID cards after the renewal grace period has expired in cases where renewal is permitted.
Misuse of smart services carries a AED 2,000 fine, while the applicable smart services fee is AED 100.
The UAE also provides a digital service for the payment of visa and residency violation fines.
Applicants can submit their request through the ICP Smart Services website, review or update their information if necessary, and complete the payment process online.
