LAHORE – The naming rights for Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium are sold to a bank for a whopping Rs1 billion under a five-year agreement.

Pakistan Cricket Board is taking several measures to garner revenue, as earlier around half a billion was generated by selling name of National Stadium Karachi. For port city, the naming rights were sold to National Bank.

The development comes ahead of Champions Trophy 2025, as Mohsin Naqvi led board issued a tender for renaming Gaddafi Stadium.

For Lahore, the amount will be double as compared to Karachi. Incumbent Pakistan Cricket Board administration, secured deal with Lahore that more than doubled the amount received for Karachi.

Several other plans are in offing to boost funding for domestic cricket. Naming sports stadiums after sponsors is a common practice globally, with many cricket grounds in Australia and England also bearing sponsor names.
