Bahria Golf City Property faces FBR Auction in Rs26 Billion Tax Recovery Case

ISLAMABAD – A major property in Bahria Golf City to come under FBR’s hammer, with the tax authority moving to auction asset over around Rs26.4 billion in outstanding tax dues. The 32-kanal, 11-marla property is now set for auction on October 6, 2026.

The auction has been scheduled for October 6, 2026, marking another major recovery action involving a high-value immovable asset. The property covers 32 kanals and 11 marlas and includes a constructed house or built-up portion. It is located at Plot No. 1, Street No. R2A, Bahria Golf City, Mauza Salkhater, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.

The proceedings have been initiated by FBR’s Large Taxpayers Office (LTO), Islamabad, under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and Income Tax Rules, 2002. The tax-recovery framework allows authorities to take enforcement action against immovable assets when outstanding tax liabilities remain unpaid. Such attached properties can subsequently be offered for sale through public auction or tender after completion of the required legal and procedural steps.

October 6 proceedings are therefore part of a statutory tax-recovery process rather than an ordinary commercial property sale. The property being targeted by the FBR is a sizeable tract of land accompanied by an existing structure.

The asset comprises 32 kanals and 11 marlas of land, a constructed house/built-up area, Plot No. 1, Street No. R2A, Bahria Golf City, Mauza Salkhater Tehsil and District Rawalpindi. The auction will cover the immovable property identified in the FBR proceedings, including both the land and constructed portion.

The latest development follows intensified recovery proceedings linked to outstanding tax demands for tax years 2020 and 2022.

FBR has previously pursued high-value properties as part of efforts to recover unpaid amounts through the enforcement mechanisms available under income-tax laws. One prominent case involved a 527-kanal and 10-marla property in Murree. After going through multiple auction proceedings, the property was eventually sold in July 2026.

FBR also auctioned a Bahria Town property on Park Road, Islamabad, which generated approximately Rs2.05 billion. These actions form part of the broader recovery efforts being undertaken by the tax authority against substantial outstanding liabilities.

The upcoming auction will determine the next stage of the recovery proceedings concerning the Bahria Golf City property. Depending on the applicable procedure, the asset may be offered through public auction or tender. The sale remains subject to the relevant legal requirements, procedural conditions and approval from the competent tax authorities.

The latest FBR action is separate from property recovery proceedings previously undertaken by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) involving Bahria Town. In June 2025, NAB announced the auction of several properties associated with Bahria Town as part of recovery proceedings related to amounts arising from a plea bargain.

The properties included Bahria Town corporate offices on Park Road, Rawalpindi, Rubaish Marquee and Lawn in Islamabad, Arena Cinema, Bahria Town International Academy and Safari Club.

Those proceedings were conducted under Section 33-E of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. The upcoming October 6 action has a different legal foundation, as it is being carried out by the FBR under the income-tax recovery framework.
