LAHORE – Shocking new details emerged in investigation into alleged kidnapping-for-ransom and sexual assault of two foreign women, with investigators uncovering claims that point to a wider network of organized crime involving alleged organ trafficking, armed associates, and multimillion-dollar extortion.
As per availabel info, the prime suspect, Boss Waheed Tahir, is originally from Okara District. While his family reportedly resides in Okara, investigators say he had been living in Lahore for years, changing residences to keep low profile.
Police records and investigators claim the suspect has a long criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him, including allegations of illegal kidney transplantation, murder, police encounter-related offenses, and other serious crimes. Authorities say he had previously been arrested in connection with the alleged illegal kidney transplant trade.
The investigation also revealed that the men accused of physically assaulting and torturing the two foreign women were allegedly serving as Waheed Tahir’s armed guards. According to investigative sources, the suspect allegedly threatened the victims with having their organs sold if they failed to pay US$1.5 million in ransom.
The alleged threat prompted investigators to closely examine possible links between the case and an illegal human organ trafficking network, particularly as the suspect’s name had previously surfaced in investigations involving unlawful organ transplantation.
Waheed Tahir is addicted to crystal meth, commonly known as “ice,” and has been involved in criminal activities for an extended period.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say they are pursuing all leads to determine the full extent of the alleged criminal network and identify any additional suspects connected to the case.
Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said police were directed to treat Muhammad Raza Dar, a suspect reportedly related to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, like any other accused in the alleged abduction and sexual assault case involving two foreign women.
High Profile Kidnapping, Crypto Ransom and Rape Case
Police registered a case against five suspects, arrested four of them, and launched raids in multiple cities before tracing the suspect’s location. Kamran said the government and senior police officials were informed about the suspect’s reported political connection, but authorities ordered that no special treatment be given. He added that investigators are also examining whether an organised criminal gang was involved.
According to police, the women escaped after the suspect’s car crashed while he was allegedly taking them towards Bhatta Chowk instead of the airport. They sought refuge at a nearby shop while one of the victims remained in contact with her father through WhatsApp. Police later tracked the suspect using Safe City surveillance and mobile phone data before arresting him.
DIG Opt. turned claims that the women rescued themselves without police assistance, saying officers coordinated the operation after receiving an emergency call and worked closely with the victims’ family. He also said police ensured the victims underwent medical examinations and recorded their statements before leaving Pakistan on July 3.
He also apologised for an incident in which an SHO entered a magistrate’s residence while trying to record the victims’ statements but defended the urgency of the move, saying police were racing against the victims’ departure. He confirmed disciplinary action had been initiated against the SHO.
