The farmers of Pakistan are facing another setback due to shortage / non-availability of tractors in the market. Resultantly, the farming operations of current cotton sowing and upcoming wheat harvesting will be affected badly.
The farmers have already faced shortage crisis of fertilizers and this new tractor shortage crisis will further affect them which they are not in a position to bear.
On contacting with the tractor manufacturing Company; it has been informed that FBR is not paying them Sales Tax Refund since last 02 years and this amount has accumulated around Rs. 6.0 Billion, therefore, the company is not in a position to continue its tractor production and business operations are closed from March 04, 2022.
The above situation is very upsetting for the farming community as they are already under severe economic pressure due to increase in Agri. Inputs prices and non-confirmation of wheat support price.
Therefore, Pakistan Kissan Ittehad would like to request the honorable Prime Minister, Minister for National Food Security and Finance Minister to immediately take notice of this issue and advise the concerned authorities to take immediate measures for availability of tractors so that both the farmers and economy of the country may not be damaged.
