KARACHI – Senior Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi on Tuesday expressed concern over the treatment of television dramas within Pakistan, despite their growing popularity and appreciation abroad.
In a recent interview, Faisal Qureshi spoke candidly about the Pakistani drama industry, praising local television channels for producing a wide range of quality content that has earned admiration both at home and internationally.
He said Pakistani audiences take pride in their dramas while viewers in other countries also show the same level of affection for Pakistani productions.
Sharing his experience, the actor said he recently met a Nepali citizen who highly praised Pakistani dramas. He added that Pakistani serials are widely watched and appreciated in countries including Bangladesh, India, Türkiye and others.
However, the senior actor expressed disappointment over the domestic response to dramas, saying that while Pakistani content is admired globally, people within the country often fail to support dramas in a positive and constructive manner.
Referring to fellow senior actors during a programme aired on a private television channel, Faisal Qureshi stressed that criticism is important for improving technical and creative standards.
However, he cautioned that excessive or negative criticism can damage a drama rather than help improve it.
