ISLAMABAD – Electricity Bills will no longer be payable at Pakistan Post Offices from July 1, as manual bill payments at government-owned retail post offices in new push for digitization.
As per latest updates, the facility of paying electricity bills at post offices across Pakistan is set to be discontinued from July 1 as the decision aimed at transitioning bill collection system from a manual to a fully digital framework.
In an official letter to the Post Office, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) notified that consumers will no longer be able to pay their electricity bills at any Pakistan Post branch.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to modernise the revenue collection system and cut financial risks associated with cash-based transactions. Officials stated that digitizing the process will help improve transparency and efficiency, while minimising losses caused by manual handling of payments.
The move to a digital collection system is essential for streamlining operations and ensuring timely recovery of dues, IESCO spokesperson. “It also aligns with the government’s broader agenda of digital transformation in public services.”
Consumers are encouraged to use alternative digital payment channels, including online banking apps, mobile wallets, ATMs, and authorized payment agents, to ensure timely settlement of their electricity bills.
This transition marks a significant shift in how utility services are managed and is expected to pave the way for further technological integration in the public sector.
