Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House spokesperson, has stated that the “Taliban” have not fulfilled the commitments they made in the Doha Agreement.

The White House spokesperson added that the signing of the Doha Agreement empowered the “Taliban” and weakened America’s allies in the previous Afghan government.

According to the White House spokesperson, the Taliban have not fulfilled their commitments to engage in meaningful dialogue with Afghans.

Four years have passed since the signing of the 2020 agreement by the previous United States administration with the Taliban. This agreement empowered the Taliban and weakened our partners in the Afghan government and committed to withdrawing our forces from Afghanistan. The Taliban did not fulfill their commitments in the Doha Agreement to engage in meaningful dialogue with Afghans that would lead to a negotiated settlement and an inclusive political system in Afghanistan.” Said Karine Jean-Pierre, the spokesperson for the White House.

Meanwhile, Anas Haqqani, a senior member of the Islamic Emirate, wrote on his X page that the signing of the Doha Agreement was actually a recognition of the freedom, independence, and dignity of Afghans.

Haqqani also emphasized that the international community can still fulfill its commitments and reach a common understanding with the Islamic Emirate through realistic political means.

“The conclusion of the Doha Agreement was actually a recognition of the freedom, independence, and dignity of Afghans. The signing of this agreement by the aggressor party acknowledged the struggle of the Islamic Emirate as a liberating movement and the rightful heir of this land. The difficult and complex negotiations of the Doha Agreement and then its implementation phase, which was widely violated by the other side while the Islamic Emirate bore it with patience, showed that this front not only has exceptional capacity in the arena but also possesses strategic patience and a deep political understanding. Now, four years have passed, and now that the Islamic system has been ruling for over two and a half years, according to the commitments made, no harm has come from the territory of Afghanistan to anyone. There is still an opportunity for the international community to implement the unfulfilled commitments, which are not subject to the ‘statute of limitations’. The world can still reach a common understanding with the Islamic Emirate through a ‘realistic political’ approach.” Wrote Haqqani on his X (formerly twitter) account.

“The Americans, whether Trump or Biden, neither trusted the Taliban nor the Afghan government, and the Doha Agreement was for them to leave without being shot at, and Biden said something very important that everyone should think about; he said Afghanistan will never unite,” said Tariq Farhadi, a political analyst.

However, the Islamic Emirate, rejecting the stateents of the White House spokesperson, accuses America of violating the Doha Agreement.

“For example, America had promised that the blacklists, the United Nations sanctions lists, would be removed, restrictions on Afghanistan would be lifted, and America would maintain good relations with the future government of Afghanistan, participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, but the opposite is shown.” Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate told TOLOnews.

The Doha Agreement was signed after 18 months of intense negotiations on the 10th of Hoot 1398 Solar Hijri between Zalmay Khalilzad, the former United States representative for Afghan peace, and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the former deputy of the political office of the Islamic Emirate in Qatar.—Tolonews
