As Pakistan reported 45 deaths and 2432 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours. The district administration of Peshawar on Saturday imposed a smart lockdown in several more localities of the city owing to sharp increase in Coronavirus cases. “A smart lockdown is imposed in five more localities in Peshawar because of rising coronavirus cases,” a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar said adding the lockdown will be enforced from January 16 evening till further orders. The areas that have been placed under smart lockdown include Hayatabad Phase 4, streets 4, 5 and 6, Hayatabad Phase 3, streets 1 and 2 and various streets and localities of YakaToot Bazar Warsak Road and Khushhal Town.
According to the deputy commissioner’s notification, no person will be allowed to exit or enter except those supplying essential commodities, the grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open across the clock. All gatherings have been prohibited. Markets, shopping malls, and offices in these localities will remain closed. According to the NCOC, with fresh inclusion of the infections in the country the national tally of cases currently stands at 516,770 with the tally of those succumbing to the deadly virus touching 11000 figure.
