Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, CEO of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), showcased Pakistan’s progress in water management at the Global Water Summit in London, attended by 300 leaders from around the world. Selected as a Steering Committee Member from South Asia by Global Water Intelligence, Ahmed’s influence amplifies recognition of Sindh Government’s efforts on the global stage. The conference theme, “Security for a Changing Planet,” aligned with the urgent need to tackle water security issues amid climate change. Ahmed evaluated sustainable development goals roadmaps till 2030 alongside global water leaders. His contributions were highlighted at the prestigious Global Water Awards ceremony, attended by over 850 delegates worldwide.
The summit served as a platform for peer learning, mentorship, and digital solutions for water utilities, with leading entities expressing interest in collaborating with KWSC on various fronts, including improving water quality and reducing non-revenue losses. KWSC pledged to provide safe drinking water and sewerage services to an additional 3 million people in Karachi by 2030, showcasing its commitment to water sustainability.
