The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 54 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Wednesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 10 buildings in Azam Gardens, 19 in Gulberg and Model Town Extension, and 25 in New Muslim Town and on Canal Bank Road during operations against illegal commercial buildings and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Cakes & Bakes, Bundu Khan Sweets & Bakers, Häagen-Dazs, Broadway Pizza, California Pizza, American Lycetuff, The Educators, Euro Store, Dollar Junction, Green Pharmacy, New Supreme Pharmacy, Servis outlet, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams. The Police assisted LDA teams in executing the operations.
According to LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these illegal buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes in Lahore.
