KARACHI – Basic internet speeds are generally available, but Pakistanis still experience unstable connections, slow loading during peak hours, laggy video calls, disrupted online gaming, and delays when vising international sites, as quality of their broadband depends heavily on the provider’s network improvements.
Amid frustration among internet used, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued stern warning to several fixed broadband providers after nationwide survey revealed serious shortcomings in network performance during Q4 of 2025.
The findings expose major concerns over service reliability, with network availability, latency, and jitter emerging as persistent problems. Core node performance fell below mandatory thresholds for Classic Broadband, Net Cloud Telecom, and Khan Telecommunications, while access node issues affected Classic Broadband and Net Cloud Telecom. These failures put millions of users at risk of unstable connections.
Latency, a critical factor for smooth browsing and online applications, was found to be excessively high. Cyber Internet Services and Air Touch Wireless struggled with local latency, while Global Connect Synergy, Nasstec Airnet, Cyber Internet Services, and Wancom exceeded international latency benchmarks—highlighting inefficient routing and backbone network issues.
Video calls and online gaming were also disrupted, with PTCL, Global Xperts, and Nasstec Airnet showing jitter levels above permissible limits. Peak-hour congestion caused slowdowns for some users, even though overall bandwidth utilization remained below 80%. On the upside, all operators met minimum speed requirements, delivering at least 4 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload, ensuring basic broadband functionality.

The telecom authority instructed all non-compliant providers to urgently expand network capacity to ease congestion. Optimize routing for both local and international traffic. Strengthen network redundancy to ensure reliability.
