The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 83 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Tuesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 30 buildings in Revenue Society Johar Town, 27 in Shadman I & II and Gujjar Pura, 16 on Ferozepur Road, and 10 on Defence Road.
These premises were sealed during operations against illegal commercial buildings and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Hush Puppies, Dar-e-Arqam Schools, The Educators, Leysin School, Kanz-ul-Iman Beacon School, Smart Solar, Quetta Tahzeeb Paratha, Sindh Bank, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams. The Police assisted LDA teams in executing the operations.
According to the LDA high-ups, several notices were served on the owners of these illegal buildings before carrying out these operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes in Lahore. Besides this, he also directed zero tolerance against land grabbers, encroachers and violators of building bylaws.
