India has announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and bilateral series against South Africa and Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah is the most notable name to return to the squad after the fast bowler missed the recently concluded Asia Cup with a back injury while Harshal Patel also returns after shaking off an injury bug as well.

Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side.

India has also kept faith in Rishabh Punt as the team’s first-choice keeper while Dinesh Karthik is also part of the T20 World Cup squad despite not getting a game in Asia Cup with his transformation into one of the most potent finishers in cricket earning him a ticket to Australia.

The team will miss the services of the injured Ravindra Jadeja but have chosen Axar Patel in his place in somewhat a like-for-like replacement. Ravichandran Ashwin joins the team as a second spin option behind Yuzvendra Chahal.

The seam duo of Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar, middle order batter Shreyas Iyer and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi have been kept on standby.

India will host a three-match T20 series against world champions Australia from Sept. 20 before taking on South Africa in six limited-overs internationals before setting off for the World Cup.
