Athar inaugurates glass house established in Department of Plant Breeding

Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and Mujib Armand khan progressive grower from Sadiq Abad inaugurated the glasshouse established in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment.

Chairman Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandeesha briefed that with this facility , the breeding of cotton will be expedited and varietal development duration will be reduced to one-half.

The guest also took keen interest in Okra leaf genotypes that will be the future of cotton in the context of drought and whitefly tolerant.

Chairman also briefed about introgressive hybrid breeding programs for developing salinity tolerant genotypes with CLCuV and whitefly resistance/tolerance with good lint quality.
