KARACHI – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and all commercial banks will remain closed on March 24, 2023 (Friday) for the deduction of Zakat, the central bank said Tuesday.
A circular issued by the State Bank of Pakistan said it will remain closed for public dealing on Friday (March 24, 2023), which shall be observed as a ‘Bank Holiday’ for the purpose of deduction of Zakat.
Earlier, it was announced that all commercial banks will remain closed on March 23, 2023 (Thursday) on the occasion of Pakistan Day in guidelines by the Pakistani government.

The two bank holidays will be followed by the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and some of the branches will remain open on Saturday. Sunday will be the fourth non-working day for commercial banks.
State Bank however announced that all banks/DFIs/MFBs will remain closed for public dealing on March 24, saying employees of the banks/DFIs/MFBs will attend the office on Bank Holiday treating it as a normal working day (except for public dealing).
