Pakistan’s first-ever program for homeless, “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar”, has been officially inaugurated by Nawaz Sharif in revolutionary step toward housing for the underprivileged. The launch event, attended by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, also witnessed the first-ever digital lottery draw for free residential plots.
Excitement swept as winners were personally congratulated over the phone. Among the lucky recipients, Rukhsana Bibi from Attock and residents from Bahawalpur received their plots in a heartwarming gesture by the leadership. Nawaz Sharif personally called Rukhsana Bibi, saying, “Congratulations, your free plot has been confirmed.
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz hailed the initiative, saying winners of three-marla plots could avail Rs1.5 million loans to construct their homes, which is repayable in easy monthly installments of PKR 14,000 over nine years.
The first phase of this ambitious project has already touched lives across 19 districts in Punjab, awarding 2,000 free plots to deserving citizens:

The public response has been overwhelming, with over 483,000 people registering, and 18,308 applicants deemed eligible for the lottery. The project’s digital app, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar”, has been downloaded by over 1.8 million users, reflecting the massive demand for affordable housing.
So far, 118,000 people have received loans totaling 145 billion , turning the dream of homeownership into reality for thousands of Pakistanis.
