Another step toward inclusive society

Potohar Mental Health Association (PMHA) believes in inclusive and progressive society where no one left behind, in this regard PMHA has significant contribution in the socio-cultural arena of Pakistan to eliminate the infrastructural, institutional and attitudinal impediments to improve the emotional and mental wellbeing of person living with disabilities and reclaim the public spaces for them.

Through advocacy efforts by providing resource to the policy makers and legislators to increase the visibility of person living with disabilities so they can exercise there constitutional rights without being discriminated. Today, PMHA has signed the MOU with Bahria University Islamabad through Bahria School of professional psychology (BSPP-BUIC) to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of person living with disabilities through engagement of professional, youth and academia to which will open another avenue for the professional to conduct the issue based researches about the life of person living with disabilities in general and girls/women living with disabilities particularly. This will paved way for the mentally and emotionally healthier society where every individual is facing emotional and mental issues and individual living with disability are subjected to double folds of the issue. Furthermore, it will provide the insight to professionals, to understand the challenges face by women and girls living with disabilities specifically and person living with disabilities in the larger social fabric of the country. Moreover, this MOU is one step towards building bridge between development sector and academia.
