Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahu, said that all possible resources were being utilized to achieve the set target of 8.2 million cotton bales from recent crops.
He said this while presiding over the review meeting held at MNS Agricultural University to achieve the cotton production target here on Saturday.
Secretary Task Force Punjab Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor MNSUA Professor Dr. Asif Ali, Director General Agriculture (Extension) Dr. Ishtiaq Hasan, Director General Agriculture (Pest Warning) Punjab Rana Faqir Hussain, Consultant Agriculture Extension Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali and others attended the meeting.
Secretary Agriculture South Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel, Commissioner DG Khan Dr. Nasir Mehmood Bashir and Deputy Commissioners of various districts of South Punjab participated online.
The Secretary of agriculture directed the officials to stand by the farmers till the last picking of cotton and no negligence would be tolerated regarding it. There was a dire need to be more alert by keeping in view the current weather conditions and ordered to continue technical guidance regarding irrigation, nutrition and pest management of the farmers.—APP
