A meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain. The meeting focused on reviewing the supply and demand of urea for the Rabi season 2024-25.
The Minister expressed satisfaction that all fertilizer production plants are operating efficiently, ensuring there will be no shortage of fertilizer supply this year. He also highlighted that fertilizer prices are stable, benefiting farmers, and that local urea prices remain lower than international prices.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomed the stability of fertilizer prices after 3-4 years, which he noted is a positive development for farmers. He also appreciated the cooperation between the Power Division and the Fertilizer Committee, which has led to an increase in production.
He directed that all fertilizer production units should operate at full capacity to avoid any shortfalls and to meet the demand during the season. The Minister also emphasized strict action against hoarding and illegal profiteering.
He stated that the operation of all fertilizer plants at full capacity has created a competitive market environment, benefiting farmers by ensuring that urea prices remain at or below the MRP level of various brands. Furthermore, he instructed the upgrading of fertilizer production plants with new technologies to improve production and efficiency.
