The country’s top military officials convened on Tuesday to address the looming threat posed by terrorist factions based in Afghanistan, which not only jeopardises regional and global security but also serves as proxies targeting Pakistan and its economic interests, especially the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

At the 264th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at the General Headquarters under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, condemnation was voiced regarding the callous attack against Chinese nationals in Besham and the ruthless killings of civilians in Balochistan, stated the Inter-Services Public Relations.

Expressing concerns over the malicious propaganda against armed forces, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir vowed ensuring stern action against elements trying to drive a wedge between the nation and the security forces by levelling unfounded and baseless allegations.

The forum paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of martyrs including officers and men of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the citizens who have laid their lives for peace and stability in the country. “Unfounded and baseless allegations on law enforcement agencies and security forces have become a fashion and are part of the larger design to drive a wedge between the people and the Armed Forces of Pakistan,” the forum noted.
