Maryam Orders Ensuring Total Ban On Burning Of Crop Residues

Punjab Chief Minister Maryum Nawaz Sharif has directed all deputy commissioners to ensure 100 percent ban on burning of crop residues all across the province.

Punjab is confronting with serious issue of rising smog levels and burning of crop residue is adding further to the air pollution, she added.

The CM issued the directive while presiding over a high-level review meeting with deputy commissioners of all the districts in Lahore on Thursday.

Maryam said the government was committed to transform Punjab into an ideal province and for this a district-wise beautification plan was being implemented.

She expressed dismay on delay in implementation of beautification plan in some of the districts. She criticized DC Okara for not giving proper attention to burning of crop residues in his district.

She ordered setting up of special squads for governance and road maintenance. She also directed DCs to patch up water filtration plants in their respective districts.
