GILGIT – Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister Advocate Amjad Hussain has taken oath of his office and vowed to meet the public expectation after victory in the recently held general elections, the local media confirmed on Monday.CM Amjad Hussain belonged to Pakistan Peoples’ Party.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also grace the oath taking ceremony.
Addressing the gathering soon after taking oath, CM Hussain said that the local people in Gilgit Baltistan took part in the recently held general elections and supported him and his party, the PPPP. He said that he is grateful to all the people for their support.
“I will try my best to serve the motherland,” said CM, adding that the political party he belonged to was given huge mandate. The people, he said, trust his party.
The CM also thanked PML-N for extending support during the difficult times, and helping the PPP for formation of the government here in Gilgit-Baltistan,”.
He also talked about the blessings Gilgit Baltistan has been blessed with. He vowed to promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
“We need to launch visa on arrival option to promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan,” said the CM. He said he would try to deliver as per the expectation of the people. He announced to launch one-village and one-project programme in the state. He also vowed to address the issue of hours-long load-shedding. He said that the budget amount is given less than the decided amount.
“Our budget is Rs258bn but we are given Rs142bn for the budget,” said CM Hussain, saying that total budget amount should be given, so the development work could be done.
