Lahore

Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday separately met with PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Lahore to discuss ways to dislodge the “selected” government of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He also held two separate news conferences after the meetings, saying that his party would stand by the joint opposition’s decision including holding mid-term elections following a multi-parties conference after Eidul Azha.
“Imran Khan’s selected government has become a threat to the masses,” the PPP chairman told journalists following his meeting with the opposition leader in the National Assembly. “An in-house change and mid-term elections among other options are on the table,” he added.
“A very good news for the masses will come out of the APC [all-parties conference] which will be held after Eid, he remarked.
Shehbaz, speaking on the occasion, said the PTI government had failed to deliver, adding that the longer it stayed at the helm the more it will become a threat to the country. “This selected government is incapable of bringing the country out of trouble,” he added. The PML-N president also accused the PTI government of “witch-hunting”, questioning as to why NAB was unable to investigate “massive corruption” in Peshawar BRT and Malam Jabba among other PTI projects.
Following a meeting with Maulana Fazl earlier in the day, the PPP chairman blamed Imran for the hardship currently being faced by the masses, adding that the people were on the same page against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
The PPP chairman also condemned politics on the health condition of Shehbaz Sharif. “It is unfortunate to do politics on someone’s heath,” he said.
Bilawal further said that the opposition was on the same page to dislodge the government of PM Imran Khan. “Any unanimous decision of APC including mid-term election will be implemented,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the JUI-F chief said that he will bring all the political parties on one page, adding that the opposition’s Rehbar Committee will formulate proposals after Eidul Azha.
“Rehbar Committee’s proposals will be presented in the all parties conference,” he said.
It is pertinent here to mention that Shehbaz Sharif, after holding a meeting with Fazlur Rehman on Monday, had announced to convene an all parties conference of the opposition after Eid, falling on Saturday, August 1.
The PML-N president said that getting rid of the government is need of the hour as country is being ruled by “illegitimate and incompetent people”. He added that inflation has skyrocketed in last two years and massive increase in petrol prices is an example of incumbent government’s bad governance.
