Sindh Minister for Industries & Commerce and Anti-Corruption & Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has directed the officers of Anti-Corruption Department to intensify their operations against corrupt elements to eradicate corruption from the province according to the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari He was addressing a meeting of Sindh Anti-Corruption Department at his office here on Monday. The meeting was also attended by Senior Director Sohail Ahmad Qureshi, Special Secretary AnjumIqbal and other officers. Briefing the meeting, Director Anti-Corruption Sohail Ahmad Qureshi said that the total number of applications received by Sindh Anti-Corruption Department till June 30 is 851. 112 complaints were received in Karachi South Zone, 19 in West Zone, 36 in East Zone, 433 in Hyderabad, 116 in Jamshoro, 31 in MirpurKhas, 21 in ShaheedBenazirabad, 21 in Sukkur and 35 in Larkana. 19 surprise visits were made while 9 raids were carried out. At present there are a total of 585 open inquiries out of which 126 inquiries have been finalized and 459 inquiries are pending. He added that a total of 87 FIRs have been registered till June 30, while 17 people have been arrested on corruption charges. A total of 1493 challans have been filed against those involved in corruption and the number of fugitives is 1025 for whom raids are being carried out. Provincial Minister for Industries & Commerce Anti-Corruption and Cooperative Department Jam IkramullahDharejo said that corruption affects the society like termites and due to corruption development projects are not completed on time and the fruits of these projects could not reach to the common man. Dharejo further said that the pending cases of corruption should be brought to their logical conclusion immediately and the elements involved in corruption should be identified and punish them so that no one dares to commit corruption. Sindh Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that a strict system of accountability should be introduced within the department so that the officers of the department also perform their duties honestly within the ambit of law.
