COAS pays glowing tribute to Kargil War heroes Martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan being observed today

Paying Glowing tribute to indomitable courage, devotion & exemplary leadership of Captain Karnal Sher Khan shaheed, Nis-han-e- Haider & Havaldar Lalak Jan shaheed, Nishan-e- Haider, the war heroes from Sawabi, KPK and Ghizer, GB, who wrote history with their blood against all odds, Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa in a Tweet said, ”There is nothing more honourable than laying one’s life for defence of the motherland. Nation is proud of its gallant sons for valour & unwavering allegiance to defend the country, regard-less of the cost”.
The 21st martyrdom an-niversary of Kargil War heroes Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan will be observed today (Tuesday) at their native villages.
The wreath laying ceremony of Sher Khan and Lalak Jan will be held in Nawaz Killi, an area near Khyber-Paktunkhwa’s Swabi district and in Ghizer, an area of Gilgit-Baltistan, respectively.
The ceremonies will be held to pay respects and homage to martyrs who rendered their lives defending and safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Both the army officials embraced martyrdom at Gultari sector along Line of Control (LoC) in 1999 during the Kargil conflict.
Captain Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan were two of the 10 recipients of the country’s highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider.
