With the mutual cooperation of Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan and National Institute of Blood Diseases (NIBD) Karachi, the treatment of coronavirus patients through plasma therapy has been started.
In this regard the launching ceremony of “Passive Immunization Service” was held at Al-Khidmat Complex. Chief guest National Institute of Blood Diseases Karachi Chairman Professor Dr Tahir Shamsi while addressing the ceremony said that although so far no treatment of coronavirus has been invented; however the treatment of any patient contacted with any diseases through plasma therapy is a tested method, adding that in this method of treatment the plasma of any person recovered from the same disease is taken and injected to patient of same disease.
Dr Tahir Shamsi said that the treatment of the coronavirus patients through plasma therapy has been started. He said that in this method of treatment the plasma of the recovered patients from coronavirus could be used for saving the lives of the critical coronavirus patients. He hailed the role of Al-Khidmat Foundation in the current crisis.
On the occasion, Al-Khidmat Corona Task Force Chairman Dr Hafeezur Rehman said that cheap and quality corona testing facility is being provided to masses at the Al-Khidmat Covid-19 Lab in Lahore, adding that so far thousands of people have benefited from this facility. He said that the data of recovered patients is available with Al-Khidmat Foundation and these people will be contacted for donation of plasma.
He said that the countrywide campaign is also being launched through different platforms of media so that the people recovered from coroanvirus should come forward and become hope for anyone’s life in this difficult time.
Dr Hafeezur Rehman said that initially this service is being started from Al-Khidmat Lab; meanwhile Covid-19 labs are under process of completion in Karachi, Faisalabad and Peshawar and later on this service will be started there too.
Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan Vice President Syed Ihsanullah Waqas said that during the current crisis Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan through providing countrywide services has written new history of service. Syed Ihsanullah Waqas said that we should be ready for the upcoming challenges and for this purpose we should have to enhance our capacity.
The ceremony was also attended by Al-Khidmat Health National Director Dr. Professor Muhammad Afzal, Central Punjab President Ikramul Haq Subhani, Al-Khidmat Lab Lahore President Ahmed Hammad, Al-Khidmat Lahore President Abdul Aziz Abid and others.
