Punjab pursues zero-tolerance policy against corruption: Azma

Azma Looks To New Film Leadership For Cinema Revival

Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that Punjab is the only province taking concrete measures and effective action against corruption rather than merely making statements.

She said Anti-Corruption Punjab was functioning as a transparent institution, while strict departmental action was being taken against corrupt elements through effective internal accountability mechanisms across all provincial departments.

In a statement, the Information Minister said that, on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the use of body cameras was being ensured in the police, Punjab Emergency Services and other relevant departments. CCTV cameras were also being used to monitor government institutions to preserve digital evidence and strengthen efforts to eliminate corruption.

Azma Bokhari said there was no room for favouritism or bribery in Punjab. The provincial government was committed to the principles of transparency, merit and accountability, and corruption would not be tolerated at any level.

The Information Minister further said that Punjab’s performance was receiving international recognition. However, certain unemployed individuals were working day and night to malign the province in their pursuit of jobs.

She remarked that when securing employment becomes the sole objective, the performance of Punjab and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif becomes a source of constant frustration for such elements.
