LAHORE – Winter is gradually setting in across Pakistan as temperatures continue to fall in different parts of the country, raising anticipation among students for the upcoming 2026-27 winter vacations.
With colder days approaching, students are eagerly waiting for the announcement of winter holidays, particularly in Punjab, where schools traditionally remain closed for around 10 to 20 days during the winter season.
Punjab authorities usually announce winter vacations to protect schoolchildren from harsh weather conditions, including cold temperatures, fog and chilly morning winds.
The annual winter break provides students with an opportunity to take a pause from their academic routine while allowing schools to resume classes after the coldest period.
Last year, the Punjab government had announced winter vacations for all schools in the province, starting from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
Expected Winter Holidays Schedule 2026
Based on the previous year’s schedule, winter vacations are expected to begin on December 21, 2026 (Monday), and continue until January 10, 2027.
If the same schedule is followed, schools across Punjab are likely to reopen on January 11, 2027 (Monday).
However, the final dates and duration of the winter break will be determined by the Punjab government through an official announcement.
