The facility reportedly manufactured ketchup, mayonnaise, biscuits and chutneys — products commonly found in households and retail outlets.
The discovery of a substantial quantity of expired ingredients has raised concerns about food safety and the standards maintained at the production facility.
The minister’s account highlighted 3,000 kilograms of expired raw materials, including sweetener, Foul-smelling and fungus-contaminated pulp, frozen egg mixture described as unsafe, unsafe mayonnaise mixture, and widespread violations of hygiene and sanitation SOPs.
Butt said strict action had been taken and the unit’s license cancelled. Further details regarding the disposal of the seized materials, any additional penalties and the factory’s subsequent operating status were not established in the information available.
The inspection is part of broader enforcement efforts by Punjab’s food safety authorities against businesses suspected of violating food hygiene and safety requirements.
Questions emerged on social media over whether inspected facility is linked to Salva’s Foods Pvt. Ltd., a Lahore-based food manufacturer established in 2007.
The company’s product range includes whipping cream, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, chilli garlic sauce, jams and topping sauces. Its listed address is in the Industrial Area on Multan Road, opposite Police Training College, Chung, Lahore — a location in the broader vicinity of the area associated with the reported inspection.
