Hungary, Pakistan seek to broaden cooperation across key sectors

Hungary Pakistan Seek To Broaden Cooperation Across Key Sectors

ISLAMABAD – Hungary and Pakistan are looking to expand bilateral cooperation by exploring new opportunities in energy, education and other areas of mutual interest, Hungarian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Zoltan Varga said.

The ambassador said relations between Islamabad and Budapest had continued to strengthen, with cooperation extending across multiple sectors.

He expressed these words while speaking at a reception organised by the Hungarian Embassy in collaboration with MOL Pakistan to mark Hungary’s National Day.

The event brought together members of the diplomatic community, government officials and business representatives to commemorate the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and celebrate the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

Varga highlighted existing collaboration in the energy and education sectors and expressed interest in identifying additional avenues to deepen engagement between the two nations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who also attended the reception, said Pakistan and Hungary enjoyed friendly relations based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to cooperation.

He appreciated the Hungarian Embassy for arranging the event and acknowledged the contribution of companies such as MOL Pakistan to the country’s economy and local communities. He said such partnerships also helped strengthen connections between the two nations.

MOL Pakistan Chief Executive Officer said national day celebrations offered an opportunity to promote cultural understanding and bring people from different countries closer. He welcomed the company’s role in introducing Hungarian traditions and heritage to its Pakistani partners.

Ali Murtaza Abbas, regional vice president of MOL Group, said the company sought to connect the two countries by bringing Hungarian expertise and operational standards to Pakistan while highlighting the country’s investment and growth potential.

The reception also featured a presentation of Hungarian art and cultural traditions, including performances by folk dancers who travelled from Hungary for the occasion.

MOL Pakistan, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hungary-based MOL Group, has maintained operations in Pakistan since 1999. The company participates in oil and gas exploration and production activities through its working interests in several blocks, including the TAL and Margalla blocks.

Organisers said the gathering underscored both countries’ commitment to maintaining dialogue, strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation through business and cultural exchanges.
