Hina Javed’s family considers court challenge to DNA report

Hina Javeds Horrific Death In Rawalpindi Sparks Shock And Outrage Online

RAWALPINDI – The family of Hina Javed, a 45-year-old digital designer allegedly tortured and murdered at a residence in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20, is considering approaching the court to challenge the DNA report and findings of a high-level police investigation committee.

Family sources said relatives had completed preliminary consultations and were examining legal options before the police submit the challan in court.

The family continues to demand the formation of an independent judicial commission to investigate the case. If the demand is not accepted, it may seek judicial intervention for a fresh forensic examination of the samples collected during the investigation by an independent laboratory, the sources said.

According to the sources, the relatives have expressed reservations about the existing DNA findings and the conclusions reached by the police committee. They want all forensic, medical and other available evidence to undergo an impartial review to establish the identities of those allegedly involved in the killing and determine their respective roles.

Although the family has discussed the matter internally, a final decision on filing a petition will be taken after consultations with legal counsel and a detailed assessment of the available remedies, the sources added.

Legal experts said forensic findings could be examined by the courts under Pakistan’s criminal justice system. A request for fresh testing could be considered where sufficient legal grounds were established, subject to the applicable law, the condition and availability of samples, the nature of the objections and the court’s discretion.

The family has also written an open letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, rejecting the investigation committee’s conclusions and renewing its demand for a judicial commission.

The proposed legal action reflects the family’s efforts to seek an independent assessment of the evidence and ensure that all aspects of Hina’s death are thoroughly investigated.
