TEHRAN – An adviser to Iran’s supreme leader has warned that any further US military action against Iran would trigger a response more severe and destructive than before.
Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Abdullah Haji Sadeghi, representative of Iran’s supreme leader to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said the enemy had miscalculated by assuming that targeting Iranian leaders and military commanders would keep the public away from the conflict.
He said that after failing on the military front, Iran’s adversaries were now attempting to influence Iranian society through psychological warfare.
Sadeghi’s remarks came amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, with Iranian officials warning against further military confrontation.
Trump claims Iran has missiles capable of reaching Europe, US cities
US President Donald J Trump has claimed that Iran has developed missiles capable of reaching Europe and potentially striking American cities, including San Diego and Los Angeles.
Addressing an election rally in the US state of Mississippi, Trump alleged that Tehran had developed weapons that could threaten targets far beyond the Middle East.
He also defended the economic consequences of military action against Iran, saying he had expected oil prices to rise much more sharply than they had.
Trump said he had been fully prepared for the economic impact, arguing that the United States had no alternative and that the military operation should have been launched much earlier.
Commenting on the ceasefire, the US president said he had never been particularly enthusiastic about the arrangement. He argued that Washington had attempted to demonstrate goodwill by agreeing to a ceasefire, but maintained that the move had ultimately proved to be a waste of time.
Trump also insisted that the United States had not initiated the war, claiming instead that Iran had started the conflict against America.
The claims about Iran’s missile capabilities and the circumstances surrounding the conflict were not independently verified in the provided report.
