PM Shehbaz Launches Youth Scheme to Distribute 500,000 Chromebooks

Pm Shehbaz Launches Youth Scheme To Distribute 500000 Chromebooks

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday launched the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme, under which 500,000 refurbished Chromebooks and internet devices will be distributed among students nationwide.

At a ceremony in Islamabad, the prime minister also handed over laptops and internet devices to outstanding Grade 9 students and students enrolled in seminaries.

Addressing the event, Shehbaz described students as Pakistan’s most valuable asset, emphasising the government’s commitment to empowering young people and improving their access to modern education. He said the PML-N had distributed 600,000 laptops over a decade in the past, while the new initiative aims to provide 500,000 Chromebooks within two years.

PM stressed the importance of equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to address modern-day challenges, saying talent and determination were not dependent on a person’s financial circumstances.

He said at least 27 Danish schools were being established across the country to provide quality education, modern facilities and services free of cost.

Earlier, PM Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood said the Tokyo Technology Care Foundation had taken practical steps to provide digital learning facilities to 500,000 Pakistani students. He added that overseas Pakistanis had renewed confidence in the incumbent government and were keen to contribute to Pakistan’s development.

Mashhood said the prime minister was taking concrete measures to empower young people and ensure equal opportunities, while Danish schools were helping underprivileged students access education and pursue better prospects.
