A total of 9,008 doctors appeared in the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) 2026, conducted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) simultaneously in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan on Sunday.

The examination is mandatory for admission to Level III postgraduate medical and dental programmes, including FCPS, MD, MS and MDS. The test comprised two papers held between 10 am and 2:30 pm, with a 30-minute break in between.

Of the candidates, 4,579 were women and 4,429 men. Lahore recorded the highest attendance with 4,107 candidates, followed by Multan with 2,353, Rawalpindi with 1,516 and Faisalabad with 1,032.

UHS Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (retd) Prof Sohail Sabir visited the examination centre at the Punjab University Examination Halls in Lahore to review the arrangements. King Edward Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayyaz also accompanied him.

Authorities put security and administrative measures in place at all centres, with police, rescue services, health officials and other relevant departments assisting candidates. Medical camps were established to handle emergencies, while candidates were provided with light refreshments.

The Punjab government organised PGET for the first time, replacing the Joint Centralised Admission Test (JCAT) for postgraduate medical and dental admissions. According to UHS, the results of PGET 2026 are expected to be announced next week.
