MIRPUR – The first phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections concluded in the Mirpur Division on Monday with results continue to pour in today.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has so far emerged as the dominant party in the unofficial and unconfirmed results announced so far.
MIRPUR – The first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections 2026 concluded in the Mirpur Division, with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) taking an early lead in the unofficial and unconfirmed results announced so far.
Polling was held in 13 constituencies of Mirpur Division, while results of three constituencies — LA-6 Bhimber-II, LA-10 Kotli-III and LA-12 Kotli-V — are still awaited.
The competition largely remained between the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), with both major parties securing victories in several constituencies.
According to the unofficial results, the PML-N has won seven declared seats, while the PPP has secured three seats. The polling process remained mostly peaceful, with voters turning out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

Mirpur District Results
In LA-1 Mirpur-I, PML-N candidate Azhar Sadiq emerged victorious by securing 15,427 votes. PPP candidate Muhammad Afsar Shahid finished second with 9,832 votes.
The PPP opened its account in LA-2 Mirpur-II, where Qasim Majeed won the seat with 12,904 votes. PML-N candidate Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry secured the second position with 8,182 votes.
In LA-3 Mirpur-III, PPP candidate Chaudhry Yasir Sultan defeated PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed. Yasir Sultan secured 11,676 votes, while his rival received 9,832 votes.
The PML-N regained momentum in LA-4 Mirpur-IV, where Rukhsar Ahmed won with 20,172 votes. PPP candidate Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad remained runner-up with 13,865 votes.
Bhimber District Results
The closest contest of the first phase was witnessed in LA-5 Bhimber-I, where PML-N candidate Waqar Ahmed Noor narrowly defeated PPP’s Chaudhry Pervez Ashraf. Noor secured 29,875 votes, while Ashraf received 29,143 votes.
The result of LA-6 Bhimber-II remains awaited.
In LA-7 Bhimber-III, PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Farooq secured a clear victory with 35,490 votes. Independent candidate Chaudhry Anwarul Haq finished second with 25,100 votes.
Kotli District Results
In LA-8 Kotli-I, PPP candidate Zafar Iqbal Malik secured victory with 19,535 votes, defeating PML-N candidate Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan, who received 11,966 votes.
The PML-N returned to winning ways in LA-9 Kotli-II, where Umair Niazi won the seat after securing 31,080 votes. PPP candidate Javed Iqbal Budhanvi stood second with 28,509 votes.
The result of LA-10 Kotli-III is still awaited.
In LA-11 Kotli-IV, PML-N candidate Muhammad Asif won the constituency with 26,190 votes, defeating PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq, who secured 21,751 votes.
The result of LA-12 Kotli-V is also awaited.
In the final declared constituency of the division, LA-13 Kotli-VI, PML-N candidate Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan emerged victorious with 21,856 votes. Nisar Ansar Abdali of the Istehkam-e- Pakistan Party finished runner-up with 15,859 votes.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the official results after completion of the counting and verification process.
