ISLAMABAD – Authorities announced the temporary closure of major section of Murree–Rawalpindi–Kashmir Road from July 15 to July 20 due to ongoing construction and rehabilitation work.
In its advisory, it said tourists and commuters are advised to use Murree Expressway as alternate route and plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays. City Traffic Police Murree announced complete closure of a crucial section of the Murree–Rawalpindi–Kashmir Road for five days due to ongoing road repair and rehabilitation work.
The stretch between Bansra Gali and Barori Tuk will remain closed to all types of traffic, including both light and heavy vehicles, from 12:00 a.m. on July 15 until July 20, 2026. Authorities say the closure is essential to ensure the safe and timely completion of the construction work.
The announcement comes at a time when Murree is witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals during the summer holiday season, raising concerns over travel disruptions and increased traffic pressure on alternative routes.
Traffic Police officials have confirmed that vehicles will be diverted to designated alternate routes throughout the closure period. Travelers heading to or from Murree have been strongly advised to use the Murree Expressway as their primary alternative route to avoid delays and inconvenience.
To facilitate commuters, traffic wardens will be deployed at key locations to guide motorists and maintain a smooth flow of traffic. Authorities have urged drivers to strictly follow the instructions of traffic personnel and avoid unnecessary travel through congested areas.
The district administration has also advised tourists and local residents to plan their journeys well in advance to minimize disruption caused by the temporary road closure.
