ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Test squad has departed from Islamabad International Airport for the West Indies to begin its preparations for an important two-match ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series scheduled later this month.
The national side will travel to the Caribbean via Doha and London before arriving in Trinidad and Tobago, where the team will complete its final preparations for the series.
Led by captain Babar Azam, Pakistan will play its matches at two of the West Indies’ renowned cricket venues — the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba and the historic Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Ahead of the overseas tour, the Pakistan team underwent an intensive training camp at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The players participated in three days of rigorous practice sessions focusing on batting, bowling, fielding, and fitness. To simulate match conditions, the squad also played a two-day scenario-based practice match, allowing the coaching staff to assess the players’ form and readiness before the challenging Caribbean assignment.
Pakistan is scheduled to play a four-day warm-up match from July 18 to 21. The fixture is expected to help the visitors acclimatize to local conditions, fine-tune their combinations, and provide valuable match practice before the start of the Test series.
The two-Test ICC World Test Championship series between Pakistan and the West Indies will be played from July 25 to August 10. The opening Test will be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, while the second Test is scheduled to take place at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
The series carries significant importance for both teams as they look to strengthen their positions in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship standings. Pakistan will be aiming for a strong performance in Caribbean conditions, while the West Indies will seek to capitalize on home advantage in what promises to be a competitive contest between the two sides.
