ISLAMABAD – Pakistani citizens seeking short-term travel visas to the United Kingdom and Schengen countries encountered significant challenges in 2025, with newly compiled figures highlighting a high rate of application refusals.
Data showed that thousands of Pakistani applicants were unable to secure visitor visas for these destinations during the year.
The UK and Schengen states together rejected more than 112,000 applications submitted by Pakistani nationals, meaning a substantial portion of applicants faced unsuccessful outcomes.
UK Visa Rejection Rate in Pakistan
The United Kingdom alone turned down nearly 72,000 short-term visa requests from Pakistani travellers in 2025 with rejection rate standing at 44%.
The refusal rate remained among the highest compared with other major applicant groups, with Pakistan ranking near the top among countries with large numbers of visitor visa applications.
Rejected applicants also faced considerable financial losses due to non-refundable visa charges, with millions of pounds spent on unsuccessful UK visa applications.
Schengen Visa Rejection Rate
Schengen countries also recorded a high number of refusals, rejecting over 40,000 applications from Pakistani citizens, with rejection rate standing at nearly 46%.
The overall rejection ratio for Schengen short-stay visas remained close to the level seen for UK visitor visas.
The figures underline the importance for Pakistani travellers to carefully prepare visa applications, provide accurate documentation, and meet all required criteria before applying for international short-term travel permits.
